Men and women from all walks of life throughout history have been awarded many honours, most of these are recognised in the form of a medal. From long service awards to awards for bravery.

Many younger people are now acknowledging the sacrifices made by their ancestors for their country and kin, during peace time and war.

The colourful ribbons, awards and medals mean that an individual has gained recognition from his or her grateful country. These awards are often on show at formal public or military occasions.

People wearing the awards should be proud to wear the awards in the correct manner, however many of the awards worn today are often in the wrong order and/or mounted incorrectly, often through no fault of the owners.
